Allegro Writing Workshop: USAID Acquisition and Assistance (A&A) Pre-Award Documents
In response to the USG biennial requirement for 40 hours of continuous learning points (CLPs) for CORs/AORs and the overwhelming workload of USAID staff, Allegro offers a unique 5-day “Writing Workshop: USAID A&A Pre-Award documents.” The goal of the workshop is for participants, using a logical approach to writing and editing, to leave the workshop with complete or very strong outlines/drafts of A&A pre-award documents. The target audience is mission technical and program staff who are developing pre-award documents, particularly choice of instrument memos, market research documentation, statements of work, program descriptions, technical evaluation, or merit review criteria, instructions for technical application/proposal submission, deliverables, and reports. The purpose of the workshop is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to construct clear, concise, complete, correct, and coherent A&A pre-award documents. What is unique and innovate in this workshop is that it uses hands-on learning with live mission work documents as participants learn. Work on live documents is moved forward incrementally with expert coaching by workshop instructors; the workshop in a sense, is targeted “group” coaching. The combination of skilled instruction, work on live documents and earning CLPs addresses the time constraints and work overload that many USAID staff face. This workshop:
- Improves A&A award documents and completes documents in the A&A Plan for the year
- Provides updated training/guidance, etc. on USAID A&A pre-award documents
- Allows participants to earn 40 CLPs
Statement of Work (SOW) and Program Description (PD) Writing Workshop
Similar in approach to the "Writing Workshop: A&A Pre-Award documents", the Statement of Work and Program Description Writing Workshop offers participants the opportunity to spend the week learning the basics of Statement of Work (SOW) and Program Description (PD) writing while working on “live” agency SOWs and PDs. The goal is for participants to have completed outlines or strong drafts of a SOW or PD by the end of the workshop.
